Getting Started
How will I start?
Come in and see one of our highly professional staff. We will be able to put a package together that will suit both you budget and your goals and needs.
A basic gym program might be all you need to start and our friendly staff will be able to guide you to the best option for your needs.
Bit more advanced or needing more encouragement? Personal training might be what you are looking for. We can organise a trial session with a trainer suited to your goals and fitness level and get you started from there. Remember you don’t need to be a member for this optins.
If you would like to join our Pilates classes, the Beginners Introduction Package of two 45-minute sessions gives you the basics to help start you on your Pilates journey. You may then continue with private sessions or join the group sessions. Group sessions are small and restricted to four to six persons only. Supplementing your private sessions with group sessions is always recommended.
Investing in at least 10 private sessions (be it Pilates or Personal Training) will give you enough knowledge of the exercises and equipment to make group sessions and your own gym training more effective for you.
We will discuss your goals and needs before you begin, so an individual program and path can be planned for you.
How often should I come?
If you are just starting out, we recommend three times a week. If you can come only once or twice a week, you will still benefit, but the "learning curve" will be a little longer.
For Pilates and personal training twice a week is recommended but once a week will still be highly beneficial.
For Pilates, if you can only afford one session a week, we strongly recommend that you supplement your session with at-home practice in order to keep your body conditioned.
How long before I see results?
Everybody is different; therefore, every body responds differently to their workout. Some clients have noticed differences in their strength, fitness, posture and the way they feel in as few as three sessions. More significant changes may take longer.
Please remember - you get out of your sessions what you put into them! Clients who come even as infrequently as once a week, but who concentrate for the full session and "give it their all," see more improvements than clients who come more regularly but don't make the full effort when they are here.
I am older - can I still do exercise or Pilates?
Absolutely! Just keep moving safely! Pilates is low-impact. Whether your goal is to loosen up your shoulder joint so that you can reach that top shelf, or simply to play with your grandchildren without lower back pain, we can help you safely achieve your goals.
I am pregnant - can I still exercise?
WITH DOCTOR'S PERMISSION! If you have been doing exercise and become pregnant after starting, it is usually considered safe to continue what you have been doing. However, it is recommended that you check with your doctor, as every pregnancy is different. Many pregnant clients continue working out right up to delivery day and come back soon after the birth, but you need to find out what is best for your body.
I have an injury - can I still come?
Yes, with doctor's permission. Once your doctor or health care professional has approved and/or you have been released from physical therapy, we will be happy to take you as a client. We might need to contact your doctor or therapist to make sure we understand your injury so that we can either avoid it completely OR choose exercises to help rehabilitate the injury. Remember, we cannot diagnose; we use your doctor's advice to select exercises.
